Energy Savings >> Combustion Efficiency and Burner
Fine Tuning
We are constantly amazed at how few service providers
use a combustion analyzer when servicing heating equipment. An analyzer
is an essential tool when adjusting air/fuel mixtures to achieve peak
efficiency. It also reduces the risk of having high levels of carbon monoxide
(CO) in the exhaust gasses-CO is a very real and dangerous threat. By
simply setting up a burner with a combustion analyzer, savings of up to
5% can be achieved. Below are combustion analyzer printouts showing a
before and after comparison of combustion efficiency. They also note the
reduction in CO emissions. Savings are immediate and a return on investment
(ROI) can be achieved within hours in larger plants.
The printouts below show combustion readings of a burner
firing at five different rates (10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%): the first
is before the boiler has been adjusted with a combustion analyzer, the
second is after.

As one can see by the underlined efficiency readings,
the efficiency of the boiler has increased after setting up with a combustion
analyzer. Further savings in energy can be achieved through PID
controls. Read more...
